CRB Monitor was delighted to be a sponsor at the 2022 Anti-Money Laundering & Financial Crimes Conference. The in-person event was well attended by some of the most highly-respected compliance professionals in the financial services industry. CRB Monitor was represented by Founder and CEO Steve Kemmerling, Chief Revenue Officer Paul Chaveriat, and Chief Research Officer James Francis.

The conference got off to a great start with a keynote address from Brian E. Nelson, Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

One of the key sessions of the conference was the May 25th Crypto breakout session, featuring Kurt Drozd, Director at Sioinc; John Melican, Chief of External Affairs at Elliptic; and Terry Pesce, President and CEO at Pesce Consulting.

We were also treated to a panel of experts discussing the Industry's Hottest Topics from the last couple of years, featuring Brent Cohen (Executive Director, Americas Financial Crime Counsel, UBS), Sarah Green (Principal, Global Head, Financial Crimes, Vanguard Group, Inc.), Frederick Reynolds (Chief Compliance Officer, Brex), and Betty Santangelo (Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP)

Day two of SIFMA started with a case study on law enforcement as it relates to cybercrime, presented by Jarod Koopmen, Acting Executive Director, Cyber and Forensic Services IRS-CI.

Jarod’s presentation was followed by a number of notable breakout sessions, including a panel discussion on Terrorism and Geopolitical Risk, featuring Jeffrey Harwin, Americas Head of Anti-Financial Crime Compliance, Deutsche Bank; Allon Lifshitz, Deputy Chief, Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York; Rockwell Reid, Global Head of AML Compliance Risk Management - Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory, Citi; and Alan Williamson, Director, Business Oversight Compliance, Barclays Investment Bank Americas.

Day two ended with a fascinating presentation by Andrew Davies, Vice President, Global Market Strategy, Financial Crime Risk Management, Fiserv, entitled “Top Five Technologies in Fighting Financial Crime – AML and Beyond.” Andrew covered several essential areas that compliance professionals contend with, including the importance of critical data and the value of transaction monitoring in the process of risk management.
