Steve Kemmerling, CRB Monitor Founder & CEO, presented to the Greater Omaha Chapter of ACAMS on October 22, 2019 at A View on State, Omaha's premier event venue. He spoke to a room full of members on how to effectively understand, identify and manage cannabis risk and opportunity.
The focus of the presentation was to explain the differences between marijuana, hemp and CBD, which can often be lumped into one category. This provided the framework to help review best practices and common pitfalls regarding a firm's policies and procedures as it relates to cannabis. Much of the presentation was aimed to help educate Omaha chapter members on how to develop a risk-based framework for categorizing cannabis related businesses.
The Greater Omaha Chapter of ACAMS seeks to advance the knowledge, skills and experience of local AML professionals dedicated to the prevention, detection and reporting of money laundering and other financial crimes within the region, and to educate and promote positive communication between regulators, law enforcement and local financial services professionals.
